E-journals like The Conversant, Jacket 2, and Talisman have made tremendous contributions to the exploration of poetry in an interview/exchange format. Dichtung Yammer, we hope, will supplement the outstanding body of work in this mode that is currently available online, but it has an additional purpose. Although the German word Dichtung in Dichtung Yammer signifies “poetry,” as well as a few other things, this publication is not confined to exchanges with poets, but also with any cultural producer whose work has a “poetic” dimension. Therefore, this zine is intended to continue Tom Beckett’s work– happily, still archived– in E-X-C-H-A-N-G-E-V-A-L-U-E-S, which involved interviews with poets, and in Ask/Tell, which featured exchanges with philosophers, aestheticians, psychologists, etc. The greater the range of cultural production that can be brought into “poetically” inclined dialogue, the better.
